Evil begets Evil

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good

Increasingly we live in a world where what God says is evil is considered good, and what is good is considered evil. As I write this, unprecedented election fraud has taken place in the USA, a supposed pandemic, which no longer qualifies as a pandemic is being used to implement massive social change right across the world.  Issues of gender, critical race theory etc. are turning things on their head. There is opposition, however many ask "What can I do against such a massive tide of change?"

There is a pattern laid out in the scripture that has been coined with the term by Tom Bradford as 'The reality of duality.' In essence everything spiritual has a physical counterpart and visa-versa. Yes, there are many practical things that a person needs to be doing to protect themselves, their families and their community by resisting these forces. However, I want to address the spiritual issue of righteousness and the practical outworking of choosing it.

Take any of the issues I've raised above and you will quickly know that they didn't just appear. Little by little the change has been occurring, often for decades. Take election fraud. This don't happen overnight. It's been going on for years. Technology had to be developed to help perpetrate it. People had to be social engineered to accept that 'the outcome at any cost' was the right moral choice. The problem is that the fraud is so brazen, that many will simply accept it as the new norm and adjust their lives accordingly. This is the trap. To say there wasn't any fraud is to be either ignorant or complicit. The first can be overcome by basic research, reading the reports of those already prosecuted for voter fraud, reading the detailed analysis of forensic reports etc. For the second, one wonders why you would be reading this blog. Unless convenience or laziness cause you to be simply carried along with whatever direction the tide is moving, perhaps you can be shaken into action. If you are actively swimming with the tide, there is little hope for you.

  • If I can lie on an application to land a job, isn't that a good thing?

  • If I can swing votes on a Board by bribery and the environment benefits, isn't that a good thing?

  • If I steal an election and get the leaders and policies that the 'Main Stream' want, Isn't that a good thing?

Does the end really justify the means?

Then there is the example set by your actions.

  • My friend cheated through college, lied on his application and now has a great job. Why shouldn't I do something similar?

  • These companies were influenced by lobbying and money. It worked for them, why not us?

  • The election was stolen. If the political system is corrupt, why do I have to be so 'goody two shoes' when it comes to my dealings with anyone. If I can get away with it by being smarter, stronger, richer, Why Not?

Why Not Indeed?

And so the 'one up man' ship competition begins. Who can cheat/defraud the other the most and come out on top. It's no longer about integrity, honesty, honour, or righteousness. You are literally living in Gehenna. (Hell). In Jewish thought hell is a place with no boundaries.  When everyone around you is going one way, It's hard to swim against the tide!

Yet, this is exactly where you can start to make a difference. By choosing to stand. You can make a difference today!

You can make a difference Today.
By making a decision to stand up for what is right and good.

Ephesians 6:13 Because of this, take up the complete armour of Elohim,  so that you have power to withstand in the wicked day, and having done all, to stand.

To get to the starting block you need to answer the following.

A Reason

Why will you choose rightness today?

Backing

Who will have your back?

Cause

What are you serving that is bigger than you?

The answer to the first two items is God, the creator of the Heavens and Earth. For the third, the greater cause is righteousness.

So, let us start at the end and work backwards. What is righteousness?

The two Hebrew words where we gain our understanding of righteousness are the words tsadiyq צדיק (tsadiyq, Strong's #6662), translated as righteous, and ישר (yashar, Strong's #3477) translated as straight/upright.  A righteous person is not one who lives a religiously pious life, the common interpretation of this word, he is one who follows the correct path, the path (way) of God. The right path is seen as the straight path, the wrong path is viewed as the crooked path.

Now so as not to enrage some conservative Christians, I'm going to use Righteousness & righteousness. There is no argument that 'No one is Righteous', (Rom 3:10). Our Righteousness is imputed to us by God Rom 3:22.  Phil 3:9. However, this does not mean that we don't have the responsibility to walk in righteousness as an act of our will. Isa 51:5 says, Thus said יהוה, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. Also, 1 John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone doing righteousness has been born of Him.

The greater cause is Righteousness. Proverbs 21:21 He who pursues righteousness and loving-commitment Finds life, righteousness and esteem.
Imagine bringing life and rightness to your community!

Righteousness is intrinsically connected to the character of God, is fundamental to the kingdom of God and is absolutely essential for a relationship with a set-apart (Holy) God.

To make daily decisions for righteousness, (not pious sanctimonious spluttering) is to have the Living God backing you up. Psalm 37:17 For the arms of the wrongdoers are broken, But יהוה sustains the righteous.  Psalm 55:22 Cast your burden on יהוה, And let Him sustain you; He never allows the righteous to be shaken.

The reason is simple. You have been called by God to walk in righteousness. Do you claim to trust the Living God? If the answer is Yes, then that is all the reason you need.

Isa 56:1-2a Thus said יהוה, “Guard right-ruling, and do righteousness, for near is My deliverance to come, and My righteousness to be revealed. “Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who becomes strong in it,

However, if you need further reasons, try these.

A person who does righteousness

  • will be watched and often copied.

  • encourage others to do the same

  • give people pause before doing evil

  • will make the Kingdom of God relevant to that situation and with that, the presence of God in action.

Change can start with You Today

Talk to your friends. Get them on board, talk about what actions you will do today to make a difference

Practice Righteousness.  Have a think about the areas of your life where you are being carried by the tide. What do you need to do to change?

Give the Living God a reason to act on your behalf and destroy the wicked around you
